Marc
managed to catch up with For The Foxes before
the last show of the tour to talk about how they've
enjoyed their first UK tour, The Revolution and
more.
How
has "The Revolution" gone down with
the fans?
Nick: it's doing good. we released it last April
in the states and we've been touring off that
in the states. This is our first time over here,
overseas and its coming out on the 15th over here
so we'll see how it does. but the shows have been
great so hopefully people will dig the album to.
How
do you find the shows over here compared to America?
Nick: I think in America it's a lot more saturated,
like there's so many bands and so many shows all
the time. Here it just feels like kids are more
into music and more excited about the shows, and
almost all of them have been sold out.
Yeah
they upgraded the room for this one.
Group: yeah
Danny: it's a lot of kids
Mikey: it's a big room
What's
been the highlight of the tour so far?
Mikey: London
Danny : just being here all together's been really
surreal. I've never been out of the country so
just being here's been an incredible experience
and I love it here.
Have
you managed to see many of the places on the tour?
Nick: I wish we had more time like we saw a lot
of cool stuff, Scotland was really nice. here's
really cool. the drive here there's a lot of good
sightseeing stuff.
Jimmy: we got to go to Camden market in London
which I thought was crazy cool
Nick; yeah the Camden market, the the Beatles
museum in Liverpool which was awesome.
Jonathan: On John Lennon's birthday
Nick: yeah on JL's birthday
Danny: I have ancestry in Wales and Scotland so
it's really cool to be here. I'm from America
where everybody's a mutt so I'm mixed, I'm a bunch
of things. my last names Vassallo so everybody
assumes I'm Italian but my mother her side of
the family's German Scottish and Welsh so to visit
these places and tell my mother about them is
really exciting because she's never been.
Mikey: and the drive to Glasgow was beautiful.
I got to look out the window and see some of the
hills and some the scenery it was really awesome
to check out
The
weathers rubbish though.
Nick: yeah well the first half
Danny it wasn't really it was actually pretty
good
Nick: in-between
Danny I think the first couple days it rained
an the past couple days it rained but there was
a stretch where it was really nice
Nick: yeah the first four days were like "does
it rain every day here" but we didn't let
it bring us down
Danny I'm a gloomy guy I can deal with some rain
Have
you got any crazy tour stories? I know your van
broke down.
Group: yeah
Nick: it was pretty terrible
Danny : we feel really bad we had to cancel a
show. We tried our best, we even had a driver
come to meet us but he showed up forty minutes
late and that was going to make or break whether
or not we got to play. and he just showed up to
late.
Nick: we got to hang out with some of our UK label
people from Hopeless when we were in London. so
that was awesome. we went out drinking with them
for a little bit so that was cool
Danny : that was some. super cool guy. hocked
me up with my first cider. had my first pint in
a pub out here. It's been a pretty serial experience.
it's been cool.
Have
you got any crazy party tricks?
Mikey: oh I've gotta ton of them straws in the
room you can blow across em an make them whistle
and stuff and pop em.
Jimmy: The guys in Natives, they're a band on
the tour from Southampton. they taught me, my
hands are actually cut up from trying but they're
trying to teach me how to open a beer bottle with
a water bottle.
Lee
from Deaf Havana is really good at it
Jonathan: all the Natives guys are really good
at it.
Jimmy: I nailed it like twice.
What
was it like doing the video to "The Revolution"?
Nick: it was awesome. we kinda thought of the
whole idea ourselves and we got to break a bunch
of shit which was cool.
Jonathan: and we got cool haircuts out of it.
Danny : yeah, and Mary picked out a some really
sick clothes.
Mikey: that was fun.
Danny : I wore some sick threads and got to smash
some cool stuff it was fun.
Do
you think it's important for the band to take
charge and come up with an idea for the video?
Nick: yeah I think the more any newer band, anything
they ca think of themselves the more innovative
they can be about anything they're doing is great.
we thought of the whole concept ourselves and
we loved doing that kind of shit you know.
Mikey: there was a lot of people like with resources
near where you live helping out.
Danny: yeah we pulled in as many strings as possible
to help out.
Jimmy: we had the police on our side
Danny: yeah my cousins husband Alex is a cop in
the area. he actually saw us as we were filming
the scene in the barber shop. he pulled up outside
and was like "what ya doin?" and saw
the guys with the cameras and was like "filming
our video". he was like "that's what
I figured". I was like "alright, well
were probably going to be breaking a bunch of
stuff and riding dirt bikes so if you get a report
of any vandalism behind Cherry Street it's just
us so ignore it" I guess he let the guys
know we were just breaking stuff back there an
no cops came it was pretty awesome.
You've
done some other video's haven't you?
Nick: yeah we've done some smaller acoustic stuff.
this was like the first official production type
thing.
If
you could tell anyone to listen to one of your
songs what would it be?
Jonathan: Personally my favourite is "Easy
Way"
Mikey: I think for me Easy Ways the most fun to
play but the one that means most to me on the
album is "The River" I think, just cuz
to a certain degree there's an amount of sacrifice
we have to make for this band. there's people
I miss at home and I think that song means a lot
to me so it's one of my favourites.
Danny: the most fun for me to play are "Moonlight
Ride" and "Revolution" but that's
only because my roots are in punk rock and I get
to play some punk rock drum beats. I'm sure everyone
in the band could point out without me even saying
it that those are my favourite ones to play.
Nick: the closest one to me is either "The
River" or "Revolution".
I'll
move on to our last question, would you rather
be a giraffe or a zebra and why?
Jimmy: I'd rather be a giraffe cuz
Nick: sight- seeing.
Jimmy: yeah. you get a cool view. you're also
able to reach all of the fruit at the top of the
tree that other animals can't reach
Nick: yeah but then you're an easy target
Jimmy: whatever
Danny it's a tough call
Jimmy: having the giraffe print is pretty cool
Nick: dude zebra prints pretty tight.
Jimmy: it is tight I know
Mikey: zebra threads
Jonathan: I think I'd go with zebra
Danny: I like black and white so
Jonathan: in our Revolution video we have a big
fibreglass zebra our buddy stole it from a closed
down golf course
Danny: can we be a giraffe with zebra print because
I'd do that
Have
you got a message for your fans that read this?
Nick: I would say we appreciate everyone coming
out to these shows and all the new people we met
over this tour's been amazing. we're excited to
come back for sure.
