Ellie
and Alan caught up with Powerwolf back stage at
Bloodstock to talk about the Wolf concepts, how
the band began and so much more.
How
did Powerwolf begin?
It was five years ago when heavy metal at the
little in Romania and we released our first album
“Return in Bloodred” and the following
albums in 2007 and 2009.
Where
do the majority of your musical influences come
from?
I can only speak for myself. Bands like Forbidden
and Nevermoor, I am influenced by them because
of their live sets, such an amazing atmosphere
especially Forbidden.
Where
did the all the "Wolf" concepts come
from?
It was a kind of development, we came up with
the idea for our first album because singer
Attila Dorn is Romanian and into Romanian mythology
and it was a development from that along with
religious beliefs.
How
are you finding the UK?
This is our first show ever, its quite impressing
that we have had the chance to play here.
How
well has your 2009 album Bible of the Beast received?
Very good, in Germany it entered the charts
which is really special for a band like Powerwolf
and the reaction from the band was good. We
have been getting a lot of emails from the UK
saying that we should play lots of Festivals
over here, which is quite amazing.
Are
you looking forward to headlining the second stage
at Blodstock?
Yes, very much.
How
did you feel about being nominated for the Metal
Anthem of the year?
Yes, it was for "Raise Your Fist Evangelist",
you are very well informed. We were up against
the likes of Rammstein so to be nominated at
such a prestigious awards is amazing.
Where
do you see Powerwolf in a few years time?
Writing the songs for the fourth album, come
back to the UK, keep playing festivals like
this really.
Will
there be a UK tour in the pipeline?
I hope so, I don't know if it will be a headline
tour or support but anything would be good.
The stage is very important though as we have
our special church things on stage with us,
so therefore we need a lot of room and a small
show would not fit.
Have
you any funny tour stories that you would share
with us?
When we were on tour once we played a show in
Barcelona and one evening we went up to this
church and there were some men doing work on
it. So we were a bit drunk and started to climb
th scaffolding and we got into a bit of trouble.
What
made you want to be in a band or pick up your
first instrument?
I am the organ player it's the only instrument
but I have always wanted to play the drums because
its so powerful. But I decide to be the front
organ player.
Finally
out of a giraffe or a zebra, what you rather be?
A zebra because you can hide.
