Rob
cuaght up with Ingested at the Bone Crusher Fest
tour for a quick chat about how the history of
the band, what people can expect from their live
show and much more.
Hello
and thank you for taking time out to do this interview
First
of all can you give us a brief history of the
band such as how you came together as a band and
came up with the name Ingested?
We started off in 2004, me, Shaun and Sam, with
two other members, under the name of Age of
suffering, we played old skool death metal,
brad joined, we played a few gigs, had a few
problems with the drummer at the time, Lyn came
along and replaced him, he could go faster,
so we wrote more faster, brutal material, we
decided to change the band name, and scrap all
the old material, We came up with ingested because
we wanted just one word, so you can remember
it easily.
Who
would you say your musical influences are?
(Lyn) I’d say old school
type of stuff like Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse,
Nile, we mixed that with newer styles like Despised
Icon.
(Jay) we listen to a lot of music,
I listen to Hip Hop, because of the vocal patterns
are very interested, I don’t want to do
the typical death metal thing.
You
are currently touring on the Bonecrusher Fest
Tour, how did this come about and how do you find
it touring with The Black Dahlia Murder, 3 Inches
Of Blood and the other bands on the tour?
(Lyn) We didn’t really
know, our label put us forward, then we got on
tour, and we spoke to Trevor from Black Dahlia,
and he was like 'hey, I was looking for a UK opener
and I wanted you guys'.
(Jay) We have Trevor and the
other guys and loads of other people to thank
for this. It’s all a learning experience
watching the other bands!
How
would you describe your live show to someone who
has never seen you play before?
(Lyn) We try to make it as intense
as possible, we want the crowd to be more crazy,
the more they go crazy, the more we go crazy,
we want them to kick the shit out of each other,
so we can goad them into doing it some more,
(Jay) We want to make it fast
and as intense as possible!
I
understand a flyer
with your name on it appeared in the BBC 1 programme
Doctors, did it make you laugh seeing yourselves
advertised on a day time programme aimed at middle
aged women?
(Jay) me and brad were at home
on the MySpace page, and a guy sends us a message,
just seen your flier on a wall on doctors on BBC
1, we were like fuck off, and me a brad sat thorough
20 minutes of mind numbing crap, but we sat through
it, and some metal head girl came on, and she
was sat in her bedroom and there it is on the
wall! It was a flier for the Wolverhampton gig,
took a screen print and stuck it on MySpace!
Your
debut album ‘Surpassing the Boundaries of
Human Suffering’ was released back in the
summer of 2009, are you happy with the response
it has had from both your fans and the press?
(Jay) Very happy, a lot more
than we expect, it got reviewed in Kerrang, metal
hammer, Terroriser. It got good reviews, we were
shocked, it got 4 ks in kerrang. The fans come
up to us and say we like the album, were very
self critical, were very proud of it, and were
very happy with the response it’s gotten
from the press and fans.
What
do you have planned once The Bonecrusher Fest
is over?
(Lyn) Were gonna finish off writing,
to the preproduction, do another tour, go into
the studio, record, get the ball rolling for the
next album really.
One
random question that we ask every band, if you
could be an animal out of a Zebra and a Giraffe
which one would you be and why?
(Jay) I’d rather be Giraffe,
one you’re less likely to be eaten, and
two, if there’s two monkeys in a tree having
it off, and I was was feeling randy, I just could
put my neck through a tree and watch! Although
I couldn’t masturbate, because I have no
thumbs, fuck, I wanna be a giraffe, because they
look funny!
(Lyn) I’d be a zebra..............
In Wales, won’t get eaten there will I!
Thanks
for your time do you have any comments you would
like to leave for your fans reading this?
(Lyn) Thanks for giving us the
support, and coming to the shows, buying a shirt
or even just a ticket
(Jay) just keep coming to the
shows, thanks for everything, if it wasn’t
for the fans we wouldn’t be here!
