What a way to close out February, with The Answer!
Having listen to them a few times and hearing some of their well known songs getting air play on Planet Rock radio station, I jumped at the opportunity to see them down at my local venue The Fleece in Bristol on their In This Land tour.
Hailing from Ireland, The Answer is made up of Cormac Neeson on Vocals, Paul Mahon on Guitar, Michael Waters on Bass and James Heatley on the Drums.
As the lights dimmed and the band walked on stage and kicked off their set with their title track Solas off their newest album Solas, this was a slow but heavy rooted rock song, which set the night off with bang.
The Answer played a broad range of songs from their back catalog of 6 albums, offering several acoustic songs while the heavier foot thumping songs, proved why The Answer are a very underrated rock band!
My personal favourite songs from the night was two songs that I’ve heard on Planet Rock, Come Follow Me and Spectacular, also the fast and heavy track Demon Eyes.
When you first hear The Answer you will hear parts or I would say the DNA of old school Rock and Roll from the days of Judas Priest, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, which they have formed into their own unique sound, which works very well.
Overall I really enjoy The Answers gig, I would in a heartbeat see them again, but the only thing that I felt that let the gig down, no fault to the band; was the venue being half filled, maybe this was just down to lack of promotion for the tour, but on the other hand it was also a positive as it made it just that more intimate between the band and the fans in attendance, such when Cormac jumped off staged and got into the crowd to sing one of their songs in full.
5/5
