After
many years of touring and supporting with the
likes of AC/DC, Aerosmith and The Who in sold
out arenas around the world, The Answer were set
to tour them selves with 32 dates to promote their
newest album ' New Horizon'. Once i finally found
the venue in the Leicester uni complex, I got
a chance to photograph them at the O2 Academy.
I didn't know what to expect when i got there,
as I've never heard any of The Answer's music
but
have head nothing but good things about them and
their music from friends and colleges,
but my friends and colleges are of the older generation
so i wasn't sure what awaited.
As i walked in to the small, dark venue, i then
understood why it was only the older generation
of people that knew of them, i could see from
the many gathering fans of the band, with old
classic rock band shirts on, what kind of music
The Answer produced.
When the Lights dimmed to darkness, the four-piece
from Downpatrick in Ireland burst out
from the back, with energy on to the stage with
their first song ' Road Less Travelled' from their
New album ' New Horizon' which is also the name
of the tour, 'Road Less Travelled Tour'. As told
by others, The band smashed it on stage and just
as well, considering the support acts 'SKAM' and
'Hells Addiction' had already raised the bar them
selves during their performances.
In the middle of the bands set, drummer James
Heatley performed a solo with just two spot lights
focused on him for a few minutes. This band are
really keeping Rock'n'Roll alive with Lead singer
'Cormac Neeson's'
Classic 70's style vocals accompanied by Guitarist
'Paul Mahon's' Old fashioned Rock'n'Roll Riffs,
I really thought I had travelled back in time
for a short moment and I bet the crowd thought
so too. The band ended a brilliant night with
the song 'Preachin' before taking a quick picture
of them selves with their crowd to put on to their
website, unfortunately i couldn't see myself in
the photo as I was at the back, but if I ever
go to another one of The Answers shows i'll make
sure I'm at the front!
I rate The Answer a solid 4/5 because, seeing
this kind of band and music live was very new
and different to me but i really enjoyed my new
experience and if i ever get a chance to photograph
this band again i definitely will as i found the
photos for this show came out really well.
The Answer 4/5
