First
up tonight are Liberty Ship, a young four piece
from Sheffield. Their sound reminds me a little
of Cast, with a good mix of tempo and clear vocals.
'Silly Little Girl' is a bit of a crowd pleaser,
a track that has been used on 'Hollyoaks', as
is 'Further'. A good start to the evening, nice
one chaps!
Story Books take to the stage next tonight, a
much livelier band than the previous with a great
stage presence to boot.
The
pace of their set fluctuates nicely between more
up-beat and slower paced songs, sounding a tad
like Incubus in parts and the crowd take an honest
interest in the five piece from Kent/London.
'Simple Kids' is a stand out track for me, both
easy to listen to and energising at the same time.
If you get chance, do check them out.
What can I say about King Charles?, as soon as
he enters the stage the atmosphere switches completely,
like a breath of fresh air has swept through the
room, bringing his own style of happy sounds that
you can't not get up and dance around to.
Starting
off with 'LoveBlood', and the infectious 'Mississippi
Isabel' the small, but loud crowd tonight are
in their element, singing along at the top of
their lungs and not one of them is standing still.
Continuing with the beautiful 'Coco Chitty' and
the epic 'Mr Flick' before treating us to a new
track, 'Dance Forever' and I for one can't wait
to hear more!
The crowd are absolutely adorable, a mixture of
young and old it's great to see such fantastic
support for an up and coming artist such as King
Charles. Last time he was here, around twelve
months ago the crowd was only half the size, so
to see how much the fans and indeed King Charles
himself have grown is brilliant.
Moving on towards the end of this glorious set
with possibly the most addictive track, 'Bam Bam',
if you have not heard it yet, you should! I guarantee
it will be stuck in your head for days. Up next
is 'Lady Percy and 'LoveLust' ,again very much
crowd pleasers, but then I don't think he has
a track that isn't one. Set closers are in the
shape of 'Ivory Road', 'Impending Doom' and the
brilliant cover of Billy Joel's hit 'We Didn't
Start The Fire', with some lyrics edited for a
more up to date and poignant feel.
A great night had by all, bands and fans alike!
