Over
the past couple of years All Time Low have been
going from strength to strength gaining a massive
fan base across the world and every time they
come back to the UK they play bigger venues and
the venues still continue to sell out, so tonight
I headed down to Bristol Academy to see All Time
Low with We Are The In Crowd and The Maine in
support.
I arrived at the venue minutes before doors were
opened to be greeted with the biggest queue I
have ever seen outside the Academy which went
all the way up the road and into the ground floor
of the car park situated next to the venue, after
a steady wait we made our way into the venue minutes
before We Are The In Crowd took to the stage.
We
Are The In Crowd are a band I have heard a lot
about from various different publications and
from seeing their music on TV so I was quite excited
to see how they would unleash their poppy punk
sounds on the crowd at the academy tonight and
right from the start We Are In The Crowd got the
crowd moving with their brand of infectious pop-punk.
In their 30 minute time slot We Are the In Crowd
managed to play 8 songs which included the ever
so catchy ‘Rumour Mill’, ‘For
The Win’, ‘On Your Own’, but
it was ‘Kiss Me Again’ which got the
biggest reaction as All Time Low’s Alex
Gaskarth took to the stage for guest vocals which
was met by massive screams from the eager crowd.
Everyone
seemed to really enjoy We Are The In Crowd tonight,
they are back in April for their own headline
tour and I can easily see them headlining venues
like Bristol Academy a few years down the line.
The Maine were the second band up tonight and
they really brought the noise and to start with
I really didn’t think they were going to
go down that well with the All Time Low crowd
but to my surprise they went down extremely well
with a lot of people in the audience singing a
long word for word to every song.
The
band showed off true energy on stage with bass
player Garrett Nickelsen making the biggest impression
with his energetic ways which saw him nearly take
down his mic stand with his bass at one point.
The band managed to blast through a strong ten
track set and if tonight’s performance was
anything to go by then I am sure we will see the
Maine back touring the UK in the very near future.
Just
before All Time Low were due to take to the stage
someone came out on stage to encourage the fans
to scream for All Time Low and you did not have
to ask these fans twice as within a split second
the venue erupted into a mad flurry of screams
and before you knew it the lights had dimmed and
All Time Low took to the stage.
All Time Low blasted straight into their latest
‘Time Bomb’ and everything went crazy
from the massive flash lighting show the band
had brought with them to their energetic stage
antics to the screams from the crowd which also
included a few select members from the crowd throwing
their underwear on stage with lead guitarist Zack
Barakat making a collection of bras on his mic
stand.
As
the show progressed Alex Gaskarth apologised for
the band taking to the stage late and also said
that he is losing his voice so will have to take
a steady approach to the show, but despite this
his voice sounded spot on to me and he blasted
through the set like his life depending on it
playing hit after hit and stopping every now and
again to interact with the crowd with his Blink
182 esque banter.
The lighting show tonight featured big laser lights
flashing across the whole venue and lights that
displayed various different things such as the
initials of the band in an ATL format and also
various crude messages like “Tap Dat Ass”,
“Vag Sex, “Ass Sex” etc which
went down well with the crowd in a comical way.
It
was clear to see that all the hard working over
the years has paid off for All Time Low as they
really stepped up the pace tonight and blew their
support acts out of the water and everything was
just spot on with the fans having the time of
their lives screaming to their idols and singing
along to their favourite pop punk songs with ‘Weightless’,
‘Dear Maria, Count Me In’ and a cover
of Blink 182’s ‘All The Small Things’
getting the biggest reaction of the night.
We Are The In Crowd 4/5
The Maine 4/5
All Time Low 5/5
