Every Time I Die formed way back in 1998 and in
their time as a band they have released 5 albums
and various different EP’s and demo’s,
they have a pretty steady following and were last
seen in the UK supporting the Gallows where they
played an explosive set pretty much every single
night of the tour.
Throughout 2009 Every Time I Die have been busy
working on their new album whilst trying to play
as many live shows as possible, the new album
is now finished and just been released, it is
titled ‘New Junk Aesthetic’ it features
some great bright coloured artwork that a lot
of time and effort has gone into, the album also
features 13 brand new explosive tracks.
‘New Junk Aesthetic’ is without a
doubt the best Every Time I Die album to be released
so far, so much time, effort and passion has been
put into the creation of the album and the result
is a real dark aggressive hardcore album that
features rip roaring riffs coming and going all
over the place, aggressive screams, the odd melodic
sing-along moment and an overall feel of one of
the best hardcore releases so far this year.
The album starts with ‘Roman Holiday’,
it starts off a bit slow but it’s great
hearing the instruments and vocals coming in one
after another as the song gets going, even when
the song is in its main element it comes across
a bit slow, but very aggressive at the same time
with big sounding vibrating guitar riffs.
If ‘Roman Holiday’ isn’t the
perfect opening track for you then ‘The
Marvelous Slut’ will more than put a smile
on your face as the song is really short in length
running at just under two minutes, but has so
much to offer in that short time with its overall
fast pace, chunky guitar riffs and aggressive
shouty vocals.
‘Who Invited The Russian Soldier?’
carries on from where ‘The Marvelous Slut’
left off, in fact you would be excused for thinking
that you was listening to the same song as the
sounds so similar in pace and sound, the only
difference being the length of time the song runs
for.
‘Wanderlust’ starts off with a great
guitar solo, the song is instrumentally technical
sounding, the vocals also come across quite melodic
with their fast free flowing sing-a-long style
with minimal shouts and screams on offer, the
song is defiantly the strongest sounding song
on the album with the biggest variety in sound,
it is bound to be released as a single later in
the year as it really is that good.
All the songs on the album are well worth a listen
as the vocal range that front man Keith Buckley
uses throughout the album is fantastic, one minute
he will be screaming, the next he will be singing
along and the next he will be near enough speaking
before jumping straight back to the scream style
without warning, the guitar riffs are also very
unpredictable and forever changing throughout
the song’s but the thing that is predictable
is that Every Time I Die will always knock out
massive aggressive riffs.
The lyrics are great throughout the album, you
will hear Buckley screaming out various things
such as "Superman, superman" and "Just
because you’re afraid of the dark doesn’t
mean it's frightened of you", which are all
well written and executed.
‘New Junk Aesthetic’ is the best Every
Time I Die album every created, the band have
been going for eleven years now and they have
proved that they just keep on getting better,
the only downside to the album that I can see
is that in places the album does seem very samey
and that is the only thing that is stopping us
from giving it a perfect 5 out of 5 score.
4/5
