I really enjoyed ‘Mystery Bruise’ by
The Hickey Underworld, it was an surprisingly good
song by a band that I had never heard of, the band
are now back with their next single ‘Blonde
Fire’ which is due for release on the 5th
October with their self-titled debut album following
a week later on the 12th October.
‘Blonde Fire’ Starts off with some
cracking guitar riffs and machine gun style drumming,
and throbbing basslines which all have the sound
of a band who like to constantly jam and create
a massive aggressive yet catchy sound, the song
goes through various different twists and turns
as it progresses, front man Younes Faltakh has
a good set of vocals that are loud and clear for
the majority of the song and softly spoken for
a few seconds every now and again.
The Hickey Underworld may well be unheard of,
but they are defiantly the best band that I have
heard come out of Belgium for a very long time
and I am sure the music business is going to get
much more rewarding for these guys once their
debut album is released.
4/5
