'Still Searching' is the bands second full-length album and was recorded
in May 2006 with acclaimed producer Brian McTernan in Bearsville studio
in upstate NY. Although, this time around a few changes have been made starting
with the addition of Heath Saraceno on guitars after the bands long time
guitarist left the band. Also the band have toned down the screams that
was found on their previous album and come up with a more melodic sound
with massive sing a long choruses, huge riffs, spot on drumming and plenty
of energy
I’ve been pretty excited about hearing this album since I heard
the first single taken from the album titled 'Calling All Cars', the song
is huge and full of great riffs and constant drumming and Buddy shining
with his newly sounding sing a long vocals making the song extremely melodic
and radio friendly. Now, after finally hearing the album I can say if
you like 'Calling All Cars' you are going to love this album.
The album has a whole mixture of sound throughout and each and every
song is a treat. 'Bonecrusher' is a fast melodic song with a huge sing
a long chorus that features some great drumming throughout. 'Sick Or Sane
(Fifty For A Twenty)' is a great song that features a metal sounding guitar
solo half way through which is then married with scremo vocals. 'Cant
Be Saved' is one of my favourite songs on the album and is just calling
to be released as a single. It is fast and furious, full of energy and
has a huge sing a long chorus and is one of them songs you will listen
to again and again and drive everyone mad because you keep skipping back
to it.
'Shark Attack' is another song that features a huge guitar solo with
some extreme hardcore screamo vocals shortly after whilst the rest of
the song is sung but it seems to work well. The album titled track 'Still
Searching' is a hardcore song full of shouts and screams in places combined
with mellow singing. 'To All The Crowded Rooms' features a huge sing a
long chorus of "To all the crowded rooms I say you gave me a home
anyway" which builds up over time and finishes off with scremo vocals
and heavy riffs.
The album is a lot different than the bands previous material, gone are
the random sick lyrics of murder and revenge, the have been replaced by
more personal lyrics to Buddy of alcohol and drugs etc. Like in the song
'Everyday Is A Struggle' with lyrics of "so much for the past year
I poured it down the drain with all the alcohol and pain I got from your
eyes". The band also sound more poppy and melodic than they ever
have with more sing a long vocals and a lot less screamo vocals which
seems to work well.
Overall Im really impressed with 'Still Searching', the band have seemed
to of changed for the best and this could possibly turn the Senses Fail
haters around to notice how good the band have become.
4/5
