Old time rock and roll; a style and sound that you
don't hear very often
anymore without religiously tuning into Radio 2.
But here, Alfonzo are
the 21^st Century bluesy-rock-n-roll answer to all
your nostalgic needs.
And they've got it down to a tee, even with the
old-time piano plonking
along in the background. Although the song doesn't
really get anywhere
and sounds fairly similar start to finish, (as is
the case with many
songs of this genre, one could argue) they get extra
points for sheer
impact. It's safe to say it was an unexpected blast
from the past, and
it's been done very well. “Blind As Faith”
is a fun-filled track,
guarenteed to have you boogying around the room
like a Dad at a disco.
The b-side “What's Happening” is still
rooted heavily in previous
decades although this is certainly more 70's.
Now I hate the 70's, but I
quite like this. Unfortunately though, it's but
a two-minute instrumental.
4/5
