Over the past year or so I have had the pleasure
of reviewing various different releases from Answers
On Postcards, I reviewed their fantastic self-titled
debut EP as well as their upbeat single ‘She’s
All Mine’, the guys are now releasing a double
single in the form of ‘Holiday’ and
‘Do You Miss Me’ and I have to say that
both songs are better than anything these guys have
released in the past and it makes me wonder why
Answers On Postcards are still pretty much unheard
of as they are the kind of band the music scene
has been crying out for, for a long time.
‘Holiday’ is a full on passionate
song that crammed to the brim with energy, funk,
groove and style, seriously get your dancing shoes
at the ready and your blow up air guitar because
‘Holiday’ has been created for you
to have the time of your lives, the song is so
charming, it is full of catchy hooks and the explosive
chorus will leave you lacking life once you finish
going nuts to it.
‘Do You Miss Me’ is just as good
as ‘Holiday’ the song is really upbeat
with proper bouncy bass lines, the song just leaves
me wanting to skankt along as Lee sings “Do
you miss me, do you miss me, do you miss me now
I’m gone, I was right, you were wrong, do
you miss me now I’m gone”, the song
is clearly influenced by bands such as The Clash,
The Specials, Whitmore and even The Ripps.
Answers On Postcards have easily released the
perfect sound track to your summer just with this
double A side single release, both songs with
leave you smiling form side to side, now let’s
just pray for some sunshine so you can enjoy the
song’s to their full potential.
I also need to say that Answers On Postcards
are proof that the music industry is fucked as
they should be superstars playing all the major
festivals across the country whilst your boring
scene bands such as BrokeNCYDE, You Me At Six
etc should be queuing down your local dole office.
