What's that old song, that starts with the line, “I am the passenger.”
Well I think The Hedrons may have had heavy inspiration from that for the
intro to this, their latest single, I Need You.
Once the stolen guitar riff is joined with more instruments, something
isn't right. The drums, bass and guitar, don't seem to work. They're in
the right key and all that, but it just seems a bit disjointed on the
timing front. Once the singing starts and you make it through a verse
and chorus, you've got used to it and you can't notice it really, but
as an initial impression, oo-er.
This band are pretty heavy indie really, with a female singer. And it's
the singing that carries this song really. It's not that the music is
bad, it's just pretty much the same thing all the way through. The now
called 'stolen riff' is played virtually constantly on guitar throughout
the track, but it's the variation in the vocal line that makes this song.
And to be fair, it is actually pretty good for a song that technically
is ridiculously simply put together.
Nicely done guys. And girls.
