As I sit here writing this review, Lily Allen is
having the time of her life performing at the duel
sited V Festival which takes place at Chelmsford
and Staffordshire , lapping up the rare British
sunshine whilst performing her greatest hits, one
of which happens to be her new single ‘22’
which is due for release on the 24th August.
‘22’ is a real upbeat summery song,
it’s a bit of a powerful pop ballad and
one that is best off listened to really loud during
a house party whilst enjoying a nice jug of Pimms
in your garden. Lyrically the song is about how
life and society goes by so fast with the story
of a girl who was 22 and had a bright future but
is now 30 wondering where all those years have
passed by and what she has nothing to show for
it.
The b-side to the single is an instrumental version
of ‘22’ and it just helps you appreciate
the backing music that little bit more, the organ
that runs throughout the song is very funky sounding
and full of groove.
Since Lily Allen released her second album ‘It’s
Not Me, It’s You’ she has stuck to
a similar formula with the artwork for her releases
and I have to say that the artwork for ‘22’
is the best so far as Lily looks like a cute little
doll sat on the 22 logo.
‘22’ is bound to follow on in the
footsteps of all the previous Lily Allen singles
as it is just as upbeat and catchy as what you
would expect from a Lily Allen song.
5/5
