I have only just come across BrokeNCYDE but from
reading up on the band I have realised that there
is a lot of fuss about these guys they have had
well over 41 Million plays on their MySpace page
so far with more plays being added each and every
day, they have toured alongside bands such as Hollywood
Undead and Senses Fail and they have now released
their debut full length album ‘I’m Not
A Fan But The Kids Like It!’ which many people
claiming that it is going to do massive things for
the band.
I can see that BrokeNCYDE are a scene band that
are going to appeal to teenagers all over the
world as they play their brand of Crunkcore music,
I do seriously wonder where all these sub music
genres come from and who thinks of the names for
them as Crunkcore may be the new cool with the
scene kids but I feel it is going to be a scene
that is short lived.
BrokeNCYDE have a sound that mixes the electronics
and randomness of Mindless Self Indulgence with
the vocal style of Hollywood Undead and as for
the band members they look like sexually starved
college graduates who are on a mission to fuck
anything and anyone that crosses their paths all
you need to do is take a look at a picture of
the band or listen to a couple of songs to get
that feeling.
The album starts off with a really pointless
sounding introduction and then it blast off into
the first proper song ‘Freaxxx’ which
opens up with the following lyrics “I walk
into the club looking kind of sexy now, I see
these shorties in the corner, they started making
out, they pull their panties down, they take their
pants off, then they started getting freaky on
the dance floor’, now if this is not the
worst introduction that I have ever heard by a
band then I don’t know what is, the lyrics
are sleazy and badly written and executed in an
very boring way vocally, the song is drenched
in un-original synths and overall just sucks.
The lead single released to promote the album
was ‘Booty Call’ the song features
E-40 and even the inclusion of him doesn’t
help brighten up the music that BrokeNCYDE have
created, in fact it just bores me to death that
BrokeNCYDE have brought some pure hip-hop into
the song.
‘Get Crunk’ is a song for all the
scene kids and I can just imagine them now at
the bands gigs dressed in various different fluorescence
colours whilst dancing around like lunatics to
the sound of ‘Get Crunk’ whilst trying
to understand what the lyrics are.
I think whatever BrokeNCYDE believe they have
down below they lack up above as the majority
of the album is a no brainer and all about sex,
’40 OZ’ is about getting your sex
on in the club, ‘Sex Toys’ is about
being teased, ‘Rockstar’ is about
the band being full of sexy dudes and features
really lame lyrics of “I drive those bitches
sexy, Cause I’m a sexy dude, but don’t
expect on having sex unless you shave your pubes’
and also “I’ll make you lick my magic
stick, you can lick my lolly pop, my lolly pop,
my lalalala lolly pop’.
BrokeNCYDE are a band who are everything that
I hate about the music scene, I hate bands that
create shit music and are so cock sure about themselves,
BrokeNCYDE might go on and be successful with
the release of this album but the success will
be short lived and their rock star dream will
be over before they know it.
