Twin Atlantic are a Scottish four piece that formed
back in 2007 and in their time they have built up
a massive reputation whilst going out on the road
with massive bands such as Lostprophets, You Me
At Six, Thrice, Funeral For A Friend, Biffy Clyro
and they even got handpicked to support the Smashing
Pumkins in Glasgow which must of been a big boost
to their confidence.
Work has just been finished on the new Twin Atlantic
mini-album ‘Vivarium’ which is now
due for release on the 14th September and I for
one personally can’t wait to get my hands
on the mini album especially if all the songs
sound as good or better than their current single
‘Lightspeed’.
‘Lightspeed’ is one of those catchy
riff-driven songs that you don’t come across
that often, the start of the song vocally reminds
me of Claudio Sanchez from Coheed And Cambria,
but that comparison soon fades away as the song
gets moving, the guitar riffs have a slight Biffy
Clyro feel about them, the bass lines are powerful
whilst the drumming is quite constant and has
me wanting to pick up a set of sticks and learn
the drums, overall the song is full of style and
attitude and played with such confidence.
The b-side to ‘Lightspeed’ is an
acoustic version, and it shows how the band sound
with everything stripped down, the acoustic guitar
is quite soothing, whilst within seconds you will
be able to decide if you really like Sam McTrusty’s
vocals or if they get on your nerves as they have
quite a unique feel about them, and I can’t
see everyone liking them, but I personally dig
his vocals.
Twin Atlantic are a band that the UK really needs,
they shine out above most of the new music that
is coming out of the UK these days and it also
leaves everyone with a clear vision that the music
scene really isn’t as bad as we sometimes
like to make out.
Once ‘Vivarium’ is released big things
are going to happen for Twin Atlantic, they are
already on a massive tour as I write this, supporting
Taking Back Sunday which can only catapult there
fan base even further.
