The Silent Years have been claimed to be one of
the best underground indie rock bands in America
for years, but I personally can’t see what
all the fuss is about, the band are releasing their
new single ‘Climb On My Back’ in the
UK on the 10th August but seriously don’t
get too excited about it.
When I first listened to ‘Climb On My Back’
I thought it was ok, but then I decided to listen
to it a further few times just to get a true feel
of the song and the band, but that was a big mistake
as after each listen I went off the song more
and more, don’t get me wrong the song starts
of nicely with Josh Epstein’s melodic sounding
vocals, really basic drums beats and quite minimal
guitar riffs and then suddenly the ever so irritating
chorus comes in with front man Josh Epstein singing
“Climb on, climb on, climb on my back”
in such an annoying way that has so many computerized
effects, if you didn’t know the name of
the song you would be thinking he was singing
“killer, killer, killer” well that’s
at least what I thought to start with.
There is a lot of fuss about this band, but sadly
us at Alternative Vision don’t share the
same high opinions on the band, don’t get
me wrong there are some quality moments on the
single but the longer it goes on the more the
more I dislike it.
2/5
