Who would believe Art Brut only took twelve days
to record their latest album ‘Art Brut Vs
Satan?’ especially after hearing the quality
of the first single to be taken from the album which
was ‘Alcoholics Unanimous’ and now hearing
the fantastic follow up single ‘DC Comics
And Chocolate Milkshake’.
Art Brut ooze with confidence and style in their
new single ‘DC Comics And Chocolate Milkshake’,
the song is a bit of pop-punk for the indie masses,
its fast, it’s furious and it’s without
a doubt very random, how often do you hear lyrics
such as “DC Comics And Chocolate Milkshake,
Even Know I’m 28’, yes the lyrics
are great in a very random but that’s what
adds to the whole excitement about Art Brut, and
also the way Eddie Argos delivers the lyrics with
his distinctive vocals.
The B-side ‘Weird Science’ is a geeky
song about science fiction, drinking and eating
crisps and features more random lyrics such as
“I spent all night licking my lips, I need
another packet of crisps”, the song is good
but no way near as good as the main single.
Art Brut are one of the most energetic indie
bands in England who like to have a laugh, I do
feel that they are slightly underrated and should
be bigger than what they are but when you’re
in a band that sings about really random things
and have a set of vocals that stand out like a
sore thumb then you are going to be a bit of a
marmite band that you either love or hate, for
me I love Art Brut and always will as long as
they keep being random.
