For a 6-piece band who have toured with some major
bands in the UK such as Madina Lake, Enter Shikari
and a few others Flood Of Red have a very depressing
sound that I just wasn’t expecting.
The bands new single ‘A Place Before The
End’ is released on the 20th July, the lead
vocals from Jordan Speirs are very dreamy sounding,
reminding me very much of the vocals from Anthony
Green from Circa Survive, the drum beats are quite
toned down but very continuous, towards the later
part of the song it changes from a real dreamy
sound to a more upbeat stadium rock style song
which must be great to experience live.
The b-side to the single is ‘Time Is All
We Have Left’, the track is very experimental
instrumentally with the dreamy sounding guitar
riffs coming and going when you just don’t
expect it, the drums are one again quite toned
down and a little less constant, vocally Jordan
Speirs shine’s again, seriously his dreamy
vocals have enough power to lift the roof of the
biggest of stadium’s which Flood Of Red
will be selling out in years to come.
I really thought I wasn’t going to get
on with Flood Of Red when I heard how mellow they
are, but I actually think they are fantastic,
they play with so much passion and Jordan Speirs
vocals instantly get into your head and become
hard to shake away just like the overall sound
of the band.
4/5
