The Chemists - A Love Like No-One ElseThe Chemists – A Love Like No One Else

Over the past 12 months The Chemists have been really busy either touring with high profile bands such as Feeder and The Music, and when they are not touring they are releasing new singles, there new single ‘A Love Like No One Else’ is the forth single that I have come across and reviewed by The Chemists and they still haven’t released their debut album but it is scheduled to be released later in the year.

If you look at all the singles that The Chemists have released you will notice that the band have a wide diverse sound where each and every song is so different from the last, you have ‘Something For The Weekend ‘ which was very fast and catchy, you have ‘Radio Booth’ which was rocky and full of Queens Of The Stone Age style riffs and no we have ‘A Love Like No One Else’ which sounds like The Killers mixed with Dorp and is officially the best song I have heard from The Chemists so far.

‘A Love Like No One Else’ really does have that trademark Killers sound and its all down to the way Johnny Benn’s vocals come across as they come across so powerful leaving a slight catchy vibe, the drums, guitar and bass build up throughout the song but never get to heavy which leaves such a soothing vibe throughout the song.

The B-side ‘Sooner Or Later’, is very blues sounding and shock horror this time around Johnny Benn’s vocals remind me very much of those of Johnny Borrell from Razorlight, the song thrives on a bouncy bassline and features a good selection of explicit lyrics with Johnny Benn singing “This place is getting tired, I’ve slept for far too long, I think the fuckers know, the fuckers know I’m right, I smash you to the floor like I did before”.

It seems that The Chemists get stronger with each single they release, which is a really good sign as with four really good singles released so far we already know that the debut album from them is going to be worth the wait as it will feature at least four good songs, I just hope they have polished up on their live show a bit more as when I saw them last November I was very bored and slightly disappointed.

4/5
