To Catch A Thief – Curious Tales and Fierce BeastsTo Catch A Thief – Curious Tales and Fierce Beasts

Impossible to find any information on this release. The disk I have is a Verbatim CD-R with the title scribbled on. No track listing, and iTunes flags it up as an older EP “Your Eyes Will Burn,” although the tracklisting doesn't match that of the one online. Amidst this mass confusion, comes this:

I guess if this was my cup of tea, it wouldn't be that bad. But given that it isn't, I'm just going to throw it out there that these guys wish they were recently reviewed Young Guns, who do it all so much better. Their main advantage over these guys, is the singer. The opening track has a deeper alt-rock vocal which works its way up to a tuneless scream, and the rest of the EP features a far higher squeakier generic vocal.

In fact, generic really does sum it all up. Painfully average, there's nothing I haven't heard before. And nothing I have heard before that's been done better. You know, good enough rock metal riffs that are cut up in a slightly disjointed manner to give that 'original' approach, and a song structure that you could predict before you've even pressed play.

When their following grow up, they'll resort to being a covers band. I can see it now.

2.5/5
