Augury are a canadian Death metal band that consists
of Patrick Loisel is on Vocals and Guitars, Mathieu
Marcotte is on Guitars, Dominic "Forest"
Lapointe is on the Bass and Antoine Baril is on
the Drums. Fragmentary Evidence is there second
release and there first on the Nuclear Blasts Records
label
Pretty much from the off there's no let up it,
its heavy if not that quick, the drumming is fairly
decent with the blast beats, the guitars seem
to get lost in the mix some times, the vocals
are guttural and mostly incoherent but that's
to be expected really. There are is some decent
guitar work when it gets away from the flat out
grinding and blasting at break neck speed, there
are some progressive elements that appear in random
places. Some of the tracks drag on a bit, so could
have been trimmed down a bit. The Bass playing
is pretty decent especially on Oversee the Rebirth.
This album is fairly creative and has some appeal
due to a slight oddness that you cant quite put
your finger on.
Fragmentary Evidence is released on the 20th of
July 2009
3/5
