Swashbuckle are a Pirate metal trio from new jersey,
and were winners of the 2008 international Nuclear
Blast myspace contest. Back To the Noose is there
Nuclear Blast records debut album.
Pirate Metal, why you have to ask, possibly seen
Pirates of the Caribbean a few two many times,
there's an interesting mix of flat out thrash
metal, accompanied by some rather decent acoustic
guitar tunes, some of the flat out metal is decent
at times, and at others it just misses the mark,
the pirate theme lyrics sung in a metal pirate
voice works, and strangely doesn't get tiring,
at times it sounds like the drop kick murphys
singer, in fact im pretty sure the two could be
interchanged. The musicians are competent and
with the pirate twist that's there it sounds quite
catchy when after a while you'd think it would
wear thin, but it doesn't. There are some comical
interludes, which could have been inspired my
Monty Python. Overall this is a fairly decent
album, even though it seems it shouldn't be due
to it being pirate associated, it just works.
Back to the noose is out on the 27th of July
