On Monday Papa Roach release their new single ‘Lifeline’
and on the same day the band also release a very
special new acoustic EP called ‘Naked And
Fearless’, the EP only features 3 songs and
they are acoustic versions of songs that feature
on their current album ‘Metamorphosis’,
the songs are ‘Lifeline’, ‘Had
Enough’ and ‘Carry Me’.
The acoustic version of ‘Lifeline’
is well good as you see such a different side
of a foot-stomping rock and roll song, everything
has been stripped away from the song leaving just
a basic acoustic guitar running throughout whilst
Jacoby sings his heart out, this version of the
song sounds so basic yet so perfect and passionate
at the same time.
The acoustic version of ‘Had Enough’
doesn’t sound that much different from the
original version of the song just because the
song is actually a real toned down song anyway,
once again it gives Jacoby chance to shine with
his vocals which do come across slightly stronger
here than they do on the original version of the
song.
‘Carry Me’ is a perfect song to turn
to acoustic due to the chill out factor of the
song which only lights up during the big sing-a-long
chorus.
‘Naked And Fearless’ is a good release,
it is always good to hear such a rocking band
strip there sound right down and still sound amazing,
and that is exactly what Papa Roach have done
here, the only disappointments from the release
is when I interviewed Papa Roach a couple of months
ago they said they were working on an acoustic
version of ‘Tightrope’ which will
be their first acoustic release, but sadly it
is not included on this EP, also I do feel the
songs on the EP could of just appeared as b-sides
on the single release of ‘Lifeline’
but hey it’s not me who makes these decisions.
4/5
