Over the past few months Undergroove records have released many quality
CD's but none have been quite as good as the new double disc album from
Twin Zero. The band are an epic prog rock band who formed a few years ago
when guitarist Reuben Gotto dissolved his previous band, his goal was to
write and record a one-song twenty-minute epic, bringing in his friends
and like-minded musicians to fulfil his ideas. Shortly after, the band was
formed as they released their debut one-track album called 'Monolith'.
A year and a half later the band are back and have just released their
second album upon us only this time the band have taken a different approach
and recorded a ten track album which also comes with a bonus CD of remixed
tracks. The first thing you will notice that is different is that the
band has gone for more standard song lengths but the odd track does run
over the ten minute mark though. Secondly, the band sound heavier and
have experimented more with their musical experience and produced some
quality soundscapes.
The album starts off perfectly with a four minute long musical introduction
track titled 'Fading Pulse', which is full of awesomely produced mellow
sounds and beats. As soon as this track finishes, the intro of the second
track 'Home' kicks in fast and furious. The song is stunning, mixing heavy
sounds and mellow peaceful sounds and hard aggressive vocals with more
sing a long vocals. 'Outstayed' is another awesome track with some great
duel vocal work going on.
The longest track on the album is track four 'Acceptance Of The End'
and its musically a masterpiece and vocally a soft sounding chill out
song until the last few minutes of the song when the sounds and vocals
totally up the pace and aggression. The album finishes with 'Retreat'
which features the most raw and aggressive vocals on the album.
CD two of the album features four different remixed tracks from songs
on the bands original album 'Monolith' remixed by 27's Ayai Naor, Princess'
Matt Grundy (formerly of Pitchshifter), Sourhaze's Elliot J Stocks and
Twin Zero's own Reuben Gotto which is just an added bonus to an already
perfect album.
To be honest I have never really heard of Twin Zero until I received
this CD and didn’t know what to expect. I am totally blown away
by the sounds I hear on this album, the band are talented, powerful and
extremely heavy in places but what do you expect from a band with two
drummers?
If you want an epic masterpiece from a UK band look no further than 'The
Tomb To Every Hope' by Twin Zero.
