‘Calm Your Little Passions’ is the new
EP from The Honeymoon suite, a band I have only
just come across, the band are a five piece from
Manchester and they have one hell of an infectious
poppy-punk sound, with front man David Moloney’s
vocals sounding all so similar to those of Patrick
Stump from Fall Out Boy, in fact there is so much
about The Honeymoon Suite that is so similar to
Fall Out Boy and I truly believe that The Honeymoon
Suite are a band that the UK pop-punk scene really
needs.
The EP fires off in a really bouncy fashion with
‘The New Low’, the band play the song
with passion and the song is crammed full of style,
from the huge Patrick Stump style melodic vocals
to the banging drum beats to the bouncy bass lines
and thrilling yet crunching guitar riffs, ‘The
New Low’ is a song that has been made with
perfection.
The EP title track ‘Calm Your Little Passions’,
is even more bouncy opening up with an very tasty
bouncy bassline, once again the song vocally becomes
a massive sing-a-long affair, with even the other
band members getting involved with their chant-a-long
backing vocals.
And the last song on the EP ‘I Wish I Wished
You Well’, feels like it needs to be sped
up a little bit, but overall is a really good
song that has that Fall Out Boy feel about it,
and it’s so hard not to get caught up in
David moloney’s infectious vocal style.
I really like The Honeymoon Suite, I feel that
they have an sound that many people in the UK
will love, seriously if these guys were played
on the radio during a hot summer day it would
cheer everyone up and make them move their body
for the duration of the song, in fact they have
a sound that would equally go down well in America
and challenge their crop off pop-punk bands, the
only band I can really compare these guys to in
the UK is Attack! Attack! And I feel they are
that little bit better than them and that’s
a big compliment as I love Attack! Attack!.
5/5
