Whiskey On A Sunday is Flogging Molly’s new release and is a package
that all Flogging Molly fans should own. It’s a CD/DVD set, the CD
features ten tracks, five which are live recordings and four are acoustic
versions of classic Flogging molly songs and one brand new studio track.
The DVD is a 106 minute feature length documentary DVD with loads of bonus
footage, the package also comes with a photo booklet which features many
photos of the band from over the years.
The CD starts off with the only studio track on the album, 'Laura', the
song features constant drumming and the vocals are as good as they are
on any Flogging Molly song and the band maintains the classic Irish sound.
the next four tracks on the CD are acoustic tracks including my favourite
ever Flogging Molly track titled 'Drunken Lullabies', the song is a lot
slower than the original but also sounds like there is a lot more emotion
behind it, and it’s good when bands play acoustic versions of your
favourite songs. 'Tomorrow Comes A Day Too Soon' sounds really good in
its acoustic form as well.
The rest of the CD is full of live tracks and Flogging Molly are one
of them bands who are always so much better live than on CD and it is
sometimes good to listen to a CD which has the crowd involved as well.
The first live track is 'The Likes Of You Again', the song is a really
catchy song you just want to dance and drink to, you can tell a lot of
energy was put into playing this track live and the sound of the fans
show they loved it to. A twelve minute live version of 'Black Friday Rule'
is stunning as the band really get the crowd involved. The CD finishes
with a live version of 'What's Left Of The Flag', which is pretty breathtaking
as you hear the fans sing a long to every word with the band.
The DVD was filmed over a two year period and in seven different countries
and features footage of the band in the studio, on tour, at home and at
their sold-out homecoming performance at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles
and is definitely a must view for the hardcore fans.
Flogging Molly are a great band who you just have to love and 'Whiskey
On A Sunday' is the perfect package for hardcore Flogging Molly fans as
well as people who are new to the band due to the fact it has a mixture
of studio, acoustic and live tracks as well as a feature length DVD of
the band.
