The Perfect Crime are a trio from Cambridgeshire
the band formed back in 2006 and ever since then
they have worked really hard touring relentlessly
across the UK which has helped build up the tight
sound that these guys have now developed, they headed
to Outhouse Studios back in October 2008 to record
their double ‘A’ side single with Matt
O’Grady, a man who is better known for his
time in the pop-punk band Fastlane.
The double A-side single consist of ‘Soviet’
and ‘To The Kindness Of Strangers’,
now ‘Soviet’ is a song that starts
in a real powerful way with a massive instrumental
jamming session which see’s this three piece
put everything they have got into it with proper
in your face drumming and powerful guitar riffs
with the clean sung vocals fitting in nicely with
a very powerful chorus kicking in half way through
the song, now the vocals are strong throughout
the song in the way that during the 4minutes or
so the song is on for these guys cover clean spoken
vocals, melodic vocals and proper raw screams,
but it’s actually the instrumental work
where these guys really shine as they have a big
experimental edge and instrumental remind me of
bands such as Protest The Hero and Lavondyss.
The second song on this double A side single
is ‘To The Kindness Of Strangers’
and once again they start off with an really impressive
bit of instrumental work, you can defiantly tell
that these guys made the most out of their music
lessons when they were at school as ‘To
The Kindness Of Strangers’ really kicks
arse at one minute the song features really technical
guitar work and mellow vocals and then the next
the guitar riffs are proper thick and powerful
sounding with constant heavy drumming and heavy
as fuck shouty vocals and then the next minute
we are left hearing just a steady drum beat for
a good minute whilst the song slowly builds up
again for a really raw and fierce end, now this
is how song writing should be, ‘To The Kindness
Of Strangers’ is epic.
The release that The Perfect Crime sent me of
this double A-side single also features two brand
new demo tracks which are ‘Give Peace A
Chance’ and ‘Speechless’, now
for some odd reason the first one of these tracks
reminds me slightly of Muse mainly because the
song is quite laid back and drowsy sounding, whilst
‘Speechless’ is another big progressive
diverse sounding song that features a bit of everything,
seriously no two minutes are the sound within
a song by The Perfect Crime.
From what I have heard on this CD, The Perfect
Crime really do kick arse, they have created a
really big sound and they seem to write song very
differently than how most bands do these days
and I believe that is what the main strong point
of these guys is and I am sure so many people
are going to pick up on that and start to believe
in The Perfect Crime.
