Now this is quite funny when I put the new Ep from
Swin Team into my computer on ITunes it comes up
thinking that the songs on the EP are by Slipknot,
Disturbed and Bloc Party, now this must be proof
that ITunes isn’t as perfect as Apple claims
and also shows that it has a few issues.
I will let you know now that these guys sound
nothing like Slipknot or Disturbed but you could
pass for comparing them to Bloc Party and also
bands such as Coldplay and Arcade Fire as they
have that wide spread atmospheric indie sound
that these bands all go for.
‘Make Notes, Have Plans’ is the new
EP from Swim Team and it is due for release on
the 8th June 2009 on Lockjaw Records and to be
honest their music is really not my kind of thing
mainly because it is far to chilled out for my
liking, I like music to be out there to get you
moving with big guitar riffs, screamy or raw sounding
vocals and pounding drum beats and the music of
Swim Team tick none of these boxes but this doesn’t
mean these guys are shit or anything like that
it just means they are not for me but I can Cleary
understand why people do and will like them.
The EP opens with ‘Ghost Animation’
which starts off with a big cinematic style introduction
with various different soundscapes, constant toned
down drumming and seconds later the very much
dreamy sounding vocals from front man Lee Hiller
come in, the arrangements of the song are good
there is a lot of change throughout the song and
the various different soundscapes will please
many people.
The whole EP follows the same formula in the
way that its laid back, full of soundscapes and
dreamy vocals which to me means it’s the
perfect EP to listen to if you want to chill out
for 20minutes or so and listen to something mellow,
the EP is about the time that Swim Team have spent
together and features themes of war and love and
the artwork to the EP features various different
pictures that mean a lot to the band.
3/5
