Break The Sky hail from Essex and formed back in 2004 and are a melodic
but aggressive metalcore band. The band entered city of dis studios in
May 2006 to record their official debut release which is a four track
EP titled, 'With Plans To Carry You To The Cliff Edge'.
From start to finish, this album is brutal, the vocals are full of raw
screams and shouts and the music is brutally fast as well. The first song
on the EP, 'The Orchids Have Been Set Ablaze' starts off with Luke Welch's
scary sounding raw vocals the drums are loud bangs and the two guitars
are incredibly fast.
The second track on the EP has a pretty cool title of 'I work the graveshift;
doesn't mean I stopped caring', but that's as good as this song goes.
If it wasn’t for the ten second intro I would still think this was
track one. The EP finishes with 'Hello Mexico' which is more of the same
but half way through the track there’s some funky instrumental piece
going on breaking the song down.
This band are definitely talented but this EP doesn’t really do
them justice and I think the best place to get into this band would be
at one of their shows in a mosh pit and as the band are touring for the
rest of the year and the start of 2007 you have no excuse not to.
3/5
