2009 seems to be the return of punk as Rise Against
are currently at the top of their game, bands like
NOFX and Anti-Flag have just released pretty damn
good new albums and now Rancid are back with their
brand new single ‘Last One To Die’ this
is the first new Rancid song since they released
their sixth studio album ‘Indestructible’
back in 2003 and I have to say it has been worth
the wait as the song features pretty much everything
that you would expect from an Rancid single.
‘Last One to Die’ is the first single
to be taking from the bands forthcoming seventh
studio album ‘Let The Dominoes Fall’
and it’s quite similar to the material that
was released from the last Rancid album, the song
is extremely catchy with an real upbeat chorus
of “We got it right, you got it wrong, were
still around, last one to die” which sounds
to me that Rancid are having a big dig at all
the people who doubted them all those years back
and good on them I say,. Musically the song rocks
with its punk rock style guitar riffs, raw sounding
lead vocals from Tim Armstrong and stand out group
shout along vocals adding extra groove to the
track.
It’s fair to say that Rancid are back better
than every, ‘Last One To Die’ is the
kind of song that you will fall in love with after
just a single listen, the new rancid album is
not due for release until the 1st June and I seriously
can’t wait for it.
5/5
