It's no surprises, given the title, that this song
is one to make you
cringe. With such a title, there's a fine margin
for making a good song,
that's a given rule. Unfortunately, Buck Brothers
have fallen short of
the mark. Irritatingly immature and urgh, no.
The annoying thing is that the music is quite
good, it's pacey rock with
a slight punk twist, grimey undertones and a clean
twinkling lead
guitar. It's not fascinating, but it's certainly
listenable, although
it's fairly corny and something you'd expect from
the eighties or
nineties. Another factor that emphasises the nostalgic
feel is the
singers nasal voice, which isn't so much tuneless,
but it certainly
lacks something.
It's not bad, but it's not far off. It has real
potential but the basic
composition and even simpler topic-choice is a
real downer. That said it
could survive in the modern market, all kinds
of sh*t is getting airplay
these days, but hey, I guess I'm just a sucker
for a good melody.
