I swear I am being stalked by the guys from Baddies
at the moment, I have recently had one of the band
members add me to msn, Facebook, MySpace and have
also magically been added to the bands mailing list,
luckily the good thing about this is that Baddies
actually rock and aren’t one of those crap
bands that add you just to up their friend count.
Baddies have been around for a little while now,
they formed just after front man Michael Webster’s
old band Engerica split up, now Engerica were
a band that I really liked but they never really
did take off with many people slating their quirky
music and jokey live shows but things are looking
good for Baddies so far with positive comments
coming from all directions.
The first main single release from Baddies is
called ‘Holler For My Holiday’ and
it does remind me of front man Michael Webster’s
old band Engerica mainly because the song adopts
that really fast paced indie-punk sound where
the vocals are extremely in your face and catchy
and the guitars are equally as fast with the guys
strumming like they have been told their guitars
will blow up if they don’t play fast enough.
The dual guitar work does these guys well and
helps them pack a huge sound whilst the vocals
are so big sounding they are really going to help
get Baddies noticed.
The b-side is called ‘Handshake’
and the song only runs for 1minute and 30seconds
but that’s enough time for these guys to
make some noise and knock out another fast catchy
anthemic track.
Baddies are definitely a band to keep an eye
on this year, if the bands forthcoming debut album
features more songs of this high quality then
it’s going to be worth the wait and in the
mean time go and check out these guys live as
they have an hectic touring schedule booked for
the majority of the year.
5/5
