I do really start to wonder how Goldie Lookin Chain
have made a career in the music industry, how they
have managed to release so many albums and how they
are still around because the first song I ever heard
from Goldie Lookin Chain was ‘Guns Don’t
Kill People Rappers Do’ and I am sure that
was the first song that most of their fans ever
heard and I am sure than most people who then went
on to buy their album ‘Greatest Hits’
including myself, found it funny for six months
and then realised that the album was actually pretty
shit.
Well Goldie Lookin Chain have just released their
latest album ‘Asbo 4 Life’ and I have
to say that it is honestly one of the worst albums
I have ever heard but at the same time I do find
it funny but in a way that I can’t work
out if Goldie Lookin Chain are serious musicians
or not either way like you would expect from Goldie
Lookin Chain ‘Asbo 4 Life’ is extremely
random and will make you chuckle for a bit but
you will soon get bored.
The album opens with ‘Mister Fahrenheit’
a song that showcases chav rock at its best, the
song features an alright sounding guitar riff
and an catchy sounding chat-a-long chorus but
this isn’t the kind of song that you will
want to listen to on repeat or infact again.
The bands current single ‘Everybody Is
A DJ’ starts off with a bit of talking from
the band but with their heavy Welsh accent it’s
pretty hard to understand anything that they are
saying, the press release tells me that the song
will make me want to turn my car stereo up really
loud and blast the song out of the window, but
it doesn’t have that effect at all and I
am sure if I did that in my town my car would
be over turned and done over before I could eject
the CD.
Goldie Lookin Chain also try their hand at an
Ibiza club classic meets the Prodigy style song
with ‘Strobe Lights’ but it is just
to random to be taken seriously but saying that
it is one of the best moments on the album.
It’s sad to say but the best moment on
the album is the single ‘By Any Means Necessary’,
but even that song isn’t really that great
but it does have that trademark Goldie Lookin
Chain charm written all over it and is also crammed
full of enough electronic beats to please the
biggest nu-rave fan.
The songs on the album are mainly about getting
stoned and drug taking or just generally full
of random lyrics such as the song ‘Garlic
Bread’, to me it sounds like a love poem
but is drowned out by over the top backing music.
Overall ‘Asbo 4 Life’ is just like
any other Goldie Lookin Chain album, good for
the first listen just to hear what the band have
to say this time around and how rude and crude
they want to be, but there are no real big stand
out moments or any real lasting appeal, I believe
these guys should quit releasing music and stick
to live shows or even their second job of reality
TV.
