The late 2000’s seems to be the era of the
solo singer song writer, as there are so many solo
artists at the moment taking the charts and general
live circuit by storm, you have Lily Allen, Kate
Nash, Kate Perry, James Blunt, James Morrison and
now Gary Go, a man who supported The Feeling on
their massive tour just before Christmas last year
and now he has been announced as the main opening
act for Take That during their massive Arena tour
in June, not bad for a young lad who hasn’t
been in the music industry for long and looks like
a cross between Buddy Holly meets Elvis Costello.
‘Open Arms’ is the new single from
Gary Go and its due for release on the 11th May
on Decca Records , the song really showcases Gary’s
skills as a singer song writer musician, the guitar
playing is exactly what you would expect from
a male solo artist, whilst the vocals area really
uplifting and strong sounding with Gary singing
his heart out during the pop-tastic chorus.
The best way to understand what Gary Go sounds
like without actually giving him a listen would
be to imagine if Chris Martin from Coldplay went
solo and was armed with just his guitar and voice
especially as Gary Go’s vocals are very
much like Chris Martin’s but just that little
bit more uplifting.
4/5
