The Briggs are a four-piece band from Southern California who touch on
many different styles of music from rock, punk and 'Oi!', to folk and
reggae. The band are just about to release their eagerly awaited follow
up to the 'Leaving the Ways' EP with there new album 'Back To Higher Ground'.
Back To Higher Ground features twelve fast sing a long anthems that you
could happily jump along to and drink along to whilst chanting to every
word.
The opening track of the album 'Back To Higher Ground' is also the title
of the album and is a truly catchy anthem musically and lyrically and
you will find yourself singing the chorus of this song hours after.
Every song on this album is great but some are better than others such
as 'Common And Unknown' which is a great chant-a-long song from start
to finish. 'Everyone's An Actor' is another stunning song with well written
catchy lyrics, but my personal favourite track from the album is 'My Own
Enemy' which only runs for two minutes, 33 seconds and features a great
sing a long chorus of "I wouldn't be so paranoid if the world wasn't
out to get me I'm so paranoid now i've become my own enemy".
The whole album is a real catchy sing a long throughout as I’ve
mentioned above the music is fast and upbeat and the band remind me of
Flogging Molly in places minus the Irish style.
The Briggs are a talented band who sure know how to pen some great tracks
and also rock out live to any crowd as the band have found themselves
playing along side many great bands from Tiger Army, The Casualties, Flogging
Molly etc. It’s just a shame the summer is over as this is perfect
music for a hot summer day.
