Single

“No More Lies” is the second single
to be taken from debut album “Noises,”
and it starts with real potential. Quite a simple
alt rock intro, something quite Coldplay/Athlete/similar
about it, you know. And then, out of nowhere, and
I hate it when this happens, it transforms into
a waste of sound. It's not that much of a transformation
in fact, it just so happens that vocals start.
A female lead, that in all honesty, sounds a bif
half-hearted. Admittedly she's been recorded singing
this with some headphones on and not at a huge
gig, but still, it's just a switch off. And it's
oh so corny. It takes this vocal addition, to
realise that actually the whole song is pretty
corny, with predictably simple licks and riffs
dotted here and there. Like a Kelly Clarkson song,
you know, she can sing fairly well but the music
isn't exactly rivetting because the focus is on
her, not the backing. Well yeah, it's like that,
except that Ellie Mules is no Kelly Clarkson.
It sounds like a pub band. Some amateur song you've
been asked to check out on MySpace by some girl
you met at a patry, and you say it's “pretty
good” but you won't be listening again.
This is significantly lacking excitement.
