This Distance are another band from South Wales
who are aiming for big things, but unlike all the
other bands that have come out of Wales in recent
times This Distance are hardcore to the max, they
have a big rifftastic sound that is so different
from the crop of South Wales based bands that have
recently made it in to the mainstream.
The band have just released their new 6 track
EP ‘The Reality The Perfection’, the
EP only runs for 18 minutes and 2 seconds but
every second of it is breathtaking, just listen
to instrumental opening track to the EP, and tell
me that the riffs and general heavy instrumental
work does not get you excited well if it doesn’t
the next track ‘Fallen’ sure will
with its brutal metal riffs, screamy vocals, and
moments of pure melody, instrumentally the song
is quite technical and This Distance pull everything
off with perfection.
The third track ‘From The shores’
is another instrumental track, but is a lot different
from the first track in the way that its actually
quite mellow, there are now big meaty guitar riffs
or pulsing drumming here unlike the first instrumental
track, in fact ‘From The Shores’ is
quite a smooth sounding instrumental with some
twangy guitar work.
The other three tracks on the EP are quite similar
to track two with the way that its full of meaty
guitar riffs, constant marching band style drumming,
gruff sounding vocals and the odd bit of melody,
instrumentally This Distance rock, they have proved
that they mean business in the Hardcore/Metal-core
scene and have already supported some massive
bands and if that continues to happen then the
future is very bright for this young 5 piece.
4/5
