The Maccabees have been busy working on the follow
up to their debut album ‘Colour It In’
the album was one of my favourite indie releases
of 2007 and also featured in many people’s
top 10 releases of 2007, well work has now been
completed on the bands second album ‘Wall
Of Arms’ which is due for release on the 4th
May.
The band have already released ‘No Kind
Words’ as a free download to give the fans
a taste of what to expect from the album and they
are now ready to release the first proper single
‘Love You Better’ on the 27th April.
‘Love You Better’ sounds like a true
Maccabees song, things sound as good hear as they
did 2 years ago when the band released their debut
album, the song starts with a great piece of guitar
work which is best listened to very loud just
to get the maximum effect from it, front man Orlando
Weeks has an amazing set of vocals that are so
catchy and repetitive, they set the pace for the
song and after a couple of listens everyone will
have “I will love you better, I will love
you better, I will love you better, I will love
better” running around there head.
The Maccabees are back and it feels like they
haven’t really been away, they are still
at the high standard that they were at for their
debut album, ‘Love You Better’ is
a top class song, it’s like classic Maccabees
just that slight bit more mature, I for one can’t
wait for the release of their second album ‘Wall
Of Arms’.
5/5
