Morrissey is well into his strange looking CD covers
these days, the CD cover for his current album ‘Years
Of Refusal’ featured Morrissey holding a Devil
style baby whilst decked out in his favourite Fred
Perry top, well the cover for his latest single
‘Something Is Squeezing My Skull’ features
Morrissey striking a pose next to a guitar hero
style status that looks slightly like a stone version
of Ian Brown who is very much in need of a haircut.
‘Something Is Squeezing My Skull’
is actually the opening track from the new Morrissey
album and is a really short but powerful track,
the vocals are really strong, the drum beats are
constant and the guitar riffs quite rocky for
a Morrissey release of recent times, the song
really comes to life during the last 30 odd seconds
as Morrissey’s vocals come in fast with
really repetitive lyrics sounding like he’s
having a lot of fun.
Morrissey is an artist who is a bit like Marmite,
many people love his music and many also loathe
it, I used to be in the loathe category but I
have since come to love the music Morrissey creates
and actually really enjoy listening to his work,
and ‘Something Is Squeezing My Skull’
is one of the best songs I have heard from the
man.
4/5
