Single Review
Stone Gods - Start Of SomethingStone Gods - Start Of Something

The Stone Gods are ready to release their fourth single from their debut album ‘Silver Spoons And Broken Bones’ and this time around they have decided to release the mellow yet fast paced melodic track that is ‘Start Of Something’.

‘Start Of Something’ is one of the strongest songs on the band’s debut album, the song will have you tapping your foot along and either humming or singing along depending on how well you know the song. The song is actually about starting something new and the fact that nothing will be able to start you, which to me shows that the band wrote it about the band knowing that no one or nothing will break them up.

The single has three b-sides and two of them are acoustic versions of tracks that features on their album and the other doesn’t feature on the album, the first b-side is ‘Don’t Drink The Water’ the song itself was one of the bands previous singles and is such a big sing a long track which sounds that little bit more special in acoustic form.

The second b-side is ‘Things Could Be Worse’ and I personally think that acoustic rock and roll can’t get much better than this, the Stone Gods rock at making a loud sound and they equally rock at making beautiful sounding acoustic rock.

The final b-side is an acoustic version of ‘Where You Comin’ From’, and at the start of the track you realise that the Stone Gods are all about having fun as they are cracking jokes and talking for the first ten seconds or so before the track starts up, once again the track sounds as powerful as the full on rocking version of the song which makes me now want to see the Stone Gods play a full on acoustic gig.

Having toured with Airbourne, Black Stone Cherry, Velvet Revolver and many others and having an album crammed with 13 classic songs there is really no stopping the Stone Gods, they are one of my favourite rock bands out there at the moment and they could easily go on and release every song from their album as a single and I still wouldn’t get bored.

5/5
