What do we have here, an artist called Trip with
an single called ‘River Phoenix’ and
the artwork on the front features a man spraying
aftershave down the front of his finest pair of
top man boxer shorts that he is proudly wearing,
which led me to believe that the song was going
to be quite a witty tune.
I wasn’t far wrong as ‘River Phoenix’
is a real fun track which tales a tale about an
opportunity lost, the lyrics are like a rollercoaster
effect with the way that one minute they are positive
and the next they are negative with that good
old up and down effect, the song is very melodic
and the more you listen to it the more it will
grow on you, the first time I listened to it I
thought I was listening to someone who really
wanted to be Mike Skinner from The Streets, but
now I have listened to it a few more times it
has proper grown on me and makes for an enjoyable
listen.
Overall ‘River Phoenix’ is a nice
melodic track, the lyrics will be spinning around
your head nonstop and it’s the perfect song
to listen to sat out in your garden enjoying a
nice cold pint of cider whilst experiencing the
first few hot days of the year. Trip is definitely
an artist that I will be watching very closely
over the next few months just to see what else
he comes up with.
4/5
