The Blackout are a six-piece screamo band from Merthyr Tydfil in Wales.
The band have played many small shows across the country as well as some
huge shows supporting the Lostprophets at Brixton Academy and also playing
at Give It A Name festival at London’s Earls Court and Manchester
Evening News Arena, which has made the band a tighter touring band who
are happy to play to any crowd size.
'Hard Slamming' is the bands first ever release and is a pretty good single.
The drumming is constant, the guitars are fast, the vocals are very screamo
and sounds pretty similar to Bert McCracken from The Used at certain moments.
The track also features lots of slow stop and start moments, which work
pretty well. 'High Tide' is an acoustic song and is nice and mellow, the
vocals are stunning and it shows this band can do mellow moments as well
as rocking out hard.
Overall this is a good single release and its a nice mixture having a
hardcore screamo song and an acoustic song on the release as it shows
two different sides to the band, I think there six track mini album will
be worth checking out as well when it is released on the 18th September
2006.
