When receiving a CD called “Memoria Vetusta
II - Dialogue With The
Stars,” claiming to be metal, from Finland;
I think you can excuse my
skepticism. And following a synth pad opening, the
uncertainly factor
remains at high. Until the second track “Antithesis
Of The Flesh”
starts, and you'd be forgiven for literally blowing
a hole in the back
of your trousers. In comparison to the airy fairy
introduction, a wall
of noise. Hammering guitars, relentless drumming,
screams, shouts, and
general carnage.
There isn't much to say on my part, but I can
add this.
If you like intense metal noise, that lacks your
classic melody but
boasts charisma and epic-ness, then you'll like
this. With numerous
songs lasting up to ten minutes, imagine the Mars
Volta were a bit less
experimental and twiddly, and turned into hellish
daemons. Here you have
Blut Aus Nord, keep out of reach of small children,
the soundtrack to
the end of the world.
