Ghosts On Pegasus Bridge are five piece band from
the South Coast of England and they describe their
music as ‘Epic-Core’ and claim to be
the founders of the genre, the band have just finished
work on their new mini album ‘The Darkest
Shore’ which is due for release on A Wolf
At Your Door Records on the 2nd March which will
then see the band head on the road with The Elijah
for a short tour throughout March.
I have to hand it to these guys ‘The Darkest
Shore’ is a very epic sounding mini album
with a lot going on at any one time., the vocals
range from being melodic to more raw and screamy,
the guitar riffs are technical and always pack
a big punch, the drums rolls are intense and the
overall feel of the band is a great mixture of
heaviness and melodicness which is going to appeal
to a wide range of people.
The mini album opens with ‘For I Never
Left (Always Yours), the song starts off with
some metal style guitar riffs as Nic Matthews
starts singing “Awake, I am awake”,
the vocals change throughout the song from loud
raws and screams to more sing-along lead vocals,
and that’s the positive point of having
duel vocals in a band, the variety of your sound
is going to be greater than a band that has one
vocalist, and you can clearly see that here, Towards
the end of the song it stops for a second or two
before some group screamy vocals come in and the
song takes a dark turn before becoming melodic
again.
‘Towers’ starts off with a mad assault
of hectic guitar riffs that’s so powerful
that they could generate electricity for the whole
of Gloucestershire if we ever got a blackout,
once again the vocals are really catchy and fast
flowing, with the odd scream coming in every now
and again. The guitar riffs during ‘Towers’
are actually amazing, they are very technical
and metal sounding and pack a big punch.
The whole of the mini album follows on in the
same manner, every song is very big and epic sounding,
they are have their big melodic sing-along moments,
and they all have their raw screams that come
and go every now and again, the guitar riffs are
always technical with a big fat metal sound about
them, and overall the song structures are more
than fantastic.
Ghosts On Pegasus Bridge are anther really great
band added to the roster of A Wolf At Your Door
Records, they seriously have an eye/ear for spotting
talent and snapping them up at the right time,
these guys deserve to be successful as they have
packed a bit of everything in their new mini album
which actually is amazing.
5/5
