Ane Brun is a singer songwriter from Norway, she
has been in the music business since 2003 and has
gone on a released 5 albums mainly in Norway, Sweden
and America and now she has her chance to release
her music upon the UK and the rest of Europe.
The latest studio album by Ane Brun is called
‘Changing Of The Seasons’ and it is
being released in the UK on the 2nd February,
you might not of heard the name Ane Brun yet but
you might have heard her music without knowing
as a cover version she did of Cyndi Lauper’s
‘True Colour’s is currently featuring
in a huge Sky TV campaign for their high definition
services.
First things first, Ane Brun has a beautiful
voice you have to give her that, her voice is
one of those cute beautiful sounding indie-folk
voices, but if listened to, too much you might
find yourself drifting off to sleep like I did.
The album opens with ‘The Treehouse Song’
and the song actually happens to be my favourite
song from the album, the song has a really quirky
quick vibe about it whilst everything manages
to sound quite low key, the vocals are beautiful
and enough to send a chill down your spine whilst
the lyrics are quite witty and well written with
Ane singing “We were going to live in a
treehouse and make babies, we were going to bury
our ex-lovers and their ghosts’.
‘The Fall’ is another’ song
that really stands out, once again everything
is quite low key with the instrumental side of
things kept to a minimal leaving Ane to shine
on the vocal front, in fact the song reminds me
of snow and the cold as it’s the kind of
instrumental that’s playing whilst watching
those old Christmas films when it starts to snow.
‘The Puzzle’ sounds quite gothic
and eerie and also reminds me of the theme song
to The Snowman all at the same time, well that’s
until Ane goes into over drive with her fast flowing
vocals which really helps bring the song to life
and stand out so much from the other tracks on
the album.
‘Changing Of The Seasons’ features
15 tracks and runs for just over 50minutes and
features some really strong and stunning moments,
but I find that I have to listen to the album
in different stages, for example if I listen to
the album from start to finish in one listen then
I know I will fall asleep as the songs have quite
a chilled out sleepy feel about them and as the
album goes on you can’t pick one song out
from the other due to the chilled out nature of
them, but saying that the album is quality but
it’s going to take a lot of work to get
enjoyment out of this as I can imagine most people
would take a quick listen to each track and not
come back to it the album again as the pace doesn’t
change throughout, but give it time listen to
a few songs at a time and you will start to enjoy
the work of Ane Brun.
