Ida Maria is an singer songwriter solo artist that
oozes with talent and energy, she has a sound that
you mum, dad, brother and sister will all enjoy
and 2008 was an very successful year for her., throughout
the year she released 5 singles and also her debut
album ‘Fortress Round My Heart’, and
not to mention the fact that she was constantly
on tour playing many different towns and cities
across Europe on a number of different occasions.
With the heavy work load Ida Maria had in 2008
you would expect her to slow down in 2009 but
that’s not the case she has already re-released
her debut single ‘Oh My God’ and she
is now ready to re-release her debut album ‘Fortress
Round My Heart’ on the 9th February, I am
not too sure why Ida Maria has decided to re-release
her previous material in 2009, maybe she thinks
she has gone back in time, who knows but 2009
will be known as the re-release year when anyone
mentions Ida Maria to me.
The re-release of ‘Fortress Round My Heart’
is not a complete copy of the original version
of the album, this time around the album has three
new songs, which makes way for a totally different
track listing and there is also a new set of artwork
for the album which was designed for Ida herself,
this probably isn’t enough to make everyone
re buy the album but it might quite tempt the
people who have heard the odd single my Ida but
have never been fully sure on if they should buy
the album, this might quite help you make your
mind up.
In a way looking at ‘Fortress Around My
Heart’ it’s quite like a greatest
hits album for two reasons, the first reason is
that every song on the album is so listenable
and could easily be a hit single and secondly
Ida has released 5 singles from the album, or
should I say 6 if you include the re-release of
‘Oh My God’ that is.
If you have come across Ida Maria then the chances
are that you would have come across one of the
following songs ‘Oh My God’, ‘Queen
Of The World’, ‘Stella’, ‘Drive
away My Heart’ and ‘I Like You So
Much Better When You’re Naked’ as
each and every one of those songs were released
as singles, with ‘Oh My God’ and ‘I
Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked’
packing the biggest punch with there ever so catchy
choruses. You may have even heard some of the
other songs on the album such as the extremely
slow paced finishing track ‘We’re
All Going to Hell’ as it was a b-side to
one of the earlier singles.
There are no fillers on the album, all the songs
are killer and pack a mighty catchy punch, songs
like ‘Morning Light’ have enough going
on to make anyone want to get there grove on ,
Ida’s voice is so strong and powerful you
can’t help but love every moment of the
song. The only balled on the album is ‘Keep
Me Warm’ but Ida even manages to make this
song rock with her powerful vocals, well written
and fast acoustic guitar playing towards the end
of the track.
Ida Maria is an artist that has the potential
to appeal to pretty much everyone in the world,
that’s if they give her 5minutes of their
time, seriously just pick one song from this album
and give it a listen, I guarantee you will not
be disappointed, Ida Maria is a one hell of a
talented young artist and she is going to go far
and she surly deserves it.
5/5
