Don’t you just love some of the press releases
that come with bands latest cd’s sometimes
it makes me wonder who thinks of what is written
on these press releases and who actually believes
it, obviously the people that write them must believe
it anyway the press release for Remedy says the
following “imagine Led Zeppelin playing with
Incubus, Janis Joplin singing with Audioslave, The
Black Crowes drinking with Guns ’N’
Roses and you’ll have Remedy” now that
is some big statement to make, luckily for Remedy
they actually do have a really big strong sound
but just not to the extent that the press release
try to make you believe.
‘Strange Fast Now’ is the bands new
EP it features 6 fast and furious energetic songs
that are full of passion and the best bit about
the band is the fact they have a female singer,
there aren’t enough female fronted bands around
these days and Jenn packs a really big punch with
her strong attitude-fuelled vocals.
The EP opens with ‘Last Demand’, the
song is proper classic rock with some major guitar
hooks, Jenn’s lead vocals really stand out
for all the right reasons she rocks and sings with
such energy and passion, if these guys had a male
vocalist I really don’t think they would have
the same appeal as Jenn’s music fits perfectly
with everything else going on around her.
‘Desire’ reminds me slightly of Alanis
Morissette and that’s down to Jenn’s
strong sounding vocals, the song is another gem.
‘Learn To Speak’ see’s the band
tone things down a bit, instrumentally everything
is kept to a minimal, yet the guitar riffs continue
to be executed with passion, Jenns vocals are a
lot quieter here with a more soft rock style.
‘Midnight To Die For’ is a great song,
Jenns vocals really do it for me here they take
a sing-along route and simply sounding beautiful
whilst still rocking, the bass line running throughout
the whole song is so strong and catchy sounding.
Overall Remedy have done well and come up with a
really strong sounding 6 track EP, all the sounds
on the album pack a different style than the last
and the variety that’s on offer is what makes
Remedy fresh and exciting, Jenn is a really talented
vocalist and it’s her vocals which makes the
band stand out from the rest.
