The Walkmen are a five piece band from New York
City, they released their critically acclaimed album
‘You And Me’ in September 2008, with
many publications claiming the album to be the best
material that The Walkmen have ever created.
The first single to be taken from ‘You And
Me’ was ‘The Blue Route’, the
song did the band good and they are now ready to
release ‘In The New Year’ which is the
second song to be taken from their current album
‘You And Me’.
I am going to be very honest with my opinion here,
I really can’t see what all the fuss is about
with The Walkmen, to me they sound like a poor man’s
Coldplay with a much darker overall sound. ‘In
The New Year’ really doesn’t do anything
for me, and is quite a sad dark sounding song that
never really gets going.
It seems like the Walkmen are a band that are just
like Marmite, you either love them or hate them
and sadly I can’t get into them whatsoever
so have to opt for the later one of the two statements.
2/5
