"Listen, Those Lost at Sea Sing a Song on Christmas
Day." Well, if that was the case, and they
sung a song as good as this, I'd spend my happy
holidays sat on the beach, braving the elements
and all Mother nature has to offer, for just even
a glimpse of this musical fantasticism.
Oozing Radiohead's mid-career-period-that-featured-considerably-more-linearity-than-other-phases-sound,
combined with a Queens of the Stone Age vocal
structure, Get Well Soon are just, wow.
And then sadly, like candy from a baby, all that
you have come to worship, disappears and is replaced
by something significantly less captivating, and
all the more skippable. Dreary "arty"
soft tunes which are as inspiring as a walnut,
and although the fourth and final track culminates
in an explosion of crazy sounds and synths, the
EP lacks body.
It's a shame, it really is. But that opening track,
oh, let's put it on again.
3.5/5
